Canadian Payroll Tax Library
(CPTL)
MET's Canadian Payroll Tax Library (CPTL) is a library of Canadian payroll withholding tax calculation functions. CPTL allows payroll software developers to easily, quickly, and seemlessly incorporate a full set of Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) payroll deduction calculations into their software, including Canada/Quebec Pension Plan (CPP/QPP), Employment Insurance (EI), federal and provincial/territorial (including Quebec) income tax withholdings, and the newly implemented Quebec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP) premiums.
Payroll software developers can reduce their total overall cost of software development and maintenance by employing CPTL in their applications. MET provides an updated library whenever CRA changes/updates their specifications and requirements for payroll withholding calculations - usually on January 1 and July 1 of each year. Our quality assurance process ensures that all calculations are tested extensively and results match exactly to all CRA provided test cases. As a payroll software provider, you can be assured that your Canadian tax deduction calculations are up-to-date and accurate with CPTL.
As a payroll software vendor, you may face the challenge of distributing payroll deduction calculation updates to your customers on a timely basis, well in advance of the implementation dates for new CRA rates and/or changes in calculation methods. We distribute CPTL updates to our customers a minimum of 30 days prior to the implementation of any CRA changes to allow our customers ample time to incorporate any API changes and perform their own testing and quality assurance before deploying updates to end-users.
Payroll software application developers can incorporate the CPTL into their application seamlessly by utilizing the CPTL Software Development Kit (SDK) and Application Programming Interface (API).
